SHEA STADIUM REDEVELOPMENT
JLGA worked with the New York Mets, NYC Economic Development Corporation and the Empire State Economic Development Corporation to develop a feasibility study for the replacement of Shea Stadium.
The feasibility study consisted of a program for the new stadium and related structures, identification of required governmental approvals, development of construction costs, and anticipated project schedules. The schematic design for the new 45,000-seat operable dome stadium incorporated a unique roll-out natural turf playing field that converted the stadium into a multipurpose facility able to accommodate a variety of large events.
Funded by the NYC Economic Development Corporation, the schematic design included the development of architectural and engineering designs including all moving mechanisms for the roof and movable playing fields, the creation of alternative seating layouts and sightlines for arena events, and the development of construction costs and project schedules.
